The St. John Fisher College men's lacrosse program suffered its first loss of the season, as the Cardinals dropped a 13-9 decision to visiting Clarkson University on Thursday at Fisher's Growney Stadium.
Fisher (1-1) enjoyed an early lead, but the Knights scored three straight – including two in a 19-second span – midway through the second quarter to take the lead for good.
Clarkson led 7-6 at the break and held Fisher scoreless in the third, pushing its lead to 9-6.
Fisher pulled to within two goals on three different occasions in the fourth, but was never able to get any closer.
Greg Ramsden (two goals, one assist) and
Jeff Wester (one goal, two assists) each finished the game with three points.
Michael Boisvert finished with two goals, while
Nick Rossi and
Brian Cole each tallied one goal and one assist.
Scott Campbell and
Bryan Dyer also scored for Fisher.
Goalie
Jamie Campagna finished with 11 saves.
Brett Farrell, Ryan Frieje and
Paul Cefalu each scooped up three ground balls.
Fisher returns to action 3 p.m. on Tuesday at Piedmont College in Georgia. The Cardinals will also face Birmingham-Southern over the College's spring break. The two teams meet Friday at 3 p.m.
