Fisher held just one lead in the game, holding a one-point advantage with the score 6-5 early in. However, after
Brooke Seavitt created the lead with a three-pointer, the Golden Flyers responded with a trey of their own to take control for good.
The Cardinals trailed 24-15 after the first 20 minutes after struggling from the floor in the first half. Fisher shot just 5-for-30 in the half to go 16.7% overall. Seavitt had the Cardinals' only two buckets from the floor in the opening 10 minutes of the game, hitting a short jumper and a three-pointer for five points.
Claire Walsh made the last Cardinal basket of the half, a lay-in on the fast break. However, that bucket came after the Nazareth defense held Fisher without a field goal over an 8:08 span. The Cardinals were only able to score two points from the charity strip in the time frame, leading to the nine-point deficit at half.
The Cardinals were able to cut the Nazareth lead to five points, at 27-22, early in the second half when
Camaryn Buckner scored her first points of the night off an inbound play. However, the Golden Flyers would not allow the Cardinals any closer during the remainder of the contest.
Fisher improved from the floor in the second half, shooting 45.7%, but the Golden Flyers did as well, going from 33.3% in the first to 63.3% in the second. The home team also held a 46-29 advantage on the boards, including 35 on the defensive end.
Portia Velasco led the Cardinals with 14 points in the game, with 10 coming in the second half. The sophomore also contributed a team high four assists. Buckner was the only other Cardinal to score in double digits, as she tallied 10 points on the night.
The Cardinals will return to their home court on Friday night when they host the Hartwick Hawks. The game will be played at 8 p.m., as opposed to the normal 6 p.m. start time.
