The St. John Fisher College women's soccer team dropped its first conference game of the season Saturday, 2-1 to Stevens Institute of Technology at Growney stadium

th minute, Fisher cut the deficit in half when Chelsea Oberkreiser dribbled down the left flank, crossing to an open
Carly Finn in the center who gathered at the 18-yard box and tucked it into the left corner. It was Finn's first career goal.

The Cardinals put on heavy pressure towards the end to try and equalize, the best opportunity off a 30-yard shot from
Laura Burgstrom sailed just outside the far post.

Fisher had the majority of the possession during the first half, holding a 7-4 advantage in shots. Burgstrom had the best opportunity for the Cardinals in the half on a shot from 25 yards out, forcing goalkeeper Evelyn Ting to stretch high to make the save.

Stevens came out strong in the second half scoring two goals within the first eight minutes to take control. The first goal came just two minutes into the half off a corner with an initial save made by
Brooke Seavitt, but the rebound was tapped home for the go ahead score

Shortly after Stevens increased its lead off a long free kick that was headed down in the box off a Fisher defender then cleaned up into the near post.

With the loss Fisher falls to 7-8 overall and 2-1 in the Empire 8, while Stevens improves to 7-6 overall and 3-1.

Fisher is back in action at 1 p.m next Saturday when it hosts Utica College for Senior Day.
