The St. John Fisher College women's soccer team went into double overtime on Saturday afternoon at Growney Stadium, but neither the Cardinals nor the Hartwick College Hawks could find the back of the net, playing to a 0-0 tie. With the stalemate, Fisher's record moves to 3-2-3 overall and 0-0-2 in the Empire 8 Conference, while Hartwick goes to 3-3-1. 0-1-1.
Noel Peck started in goal for the Cardinals, playing the scoreless first half before being relieved by
Jessica Plukas to start the second half. Plukas played the second period and both overtimes, tallying three saves while Peck finished with one stop.
Hope Brown played the entire contest in net for the Hawks, corralling four saves in 110 minutes.
Both teams played evenly throughout the game, with Fisher taking just three more shots than Hartwick, but outshooting the Hawks 9-0 in overtime.
Heather Konieczny led all players with six shots attempted, while Mackenzie Shipley of Hartwick had the most shots on goal with three.
Taylor Reynolds made a crucial team save for the Cardinals in the second half after Plukas made a stop and was forced out of position.
Jamie Alloco had the best opportunity for Fisher, sending a shot to the right corner that Brown had to dive to save, and
Chelsea Oberkrieser slid at the rebound, sending a shot just wide.
Fisher will return to action at 7 p.m. on Tuesday when it travels to crosstown rival University of Rochester for a non-conference matchup.
