Men's Lacrosse Heads to Stevens for the Empire 8 Semifinals

The St. John Fisher College men's lacrosse team will take on host Stevens Institute of Technology in the Semifinals of the Empire 8 Conference  Championship at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.  Fisher is the fourth seed in the tournament, while the Ducks hold the first seed and home field advantage.

Fisher punched its ticket to the semifinals with a 17-8 win over Utica College on Saturday.  The game was an Empire 8 playoff game of sorts, as a loss would have kicked Fisher out of postseason contention.  Seniors Kyle Denhoff and Connor Henderson led the Cardinals, as both finished with five points in their final home game.  Denhoff recorded four goals and one assist, while Henderson posted three goals and two assists in the contest.

The Cardinals defeated the Ducks earlier in the season by a 15-12 score at Growney Stadium.  The game was tight throughout, with no team holding a lead of more than two goals until the final 2:18 when Fisher scored its 15th goal.

Down 12-10, Fisher scored the game's final five goals to claim the come-from-behind victory.  Denhoff led the Cardinals in the game, as he scored four of his game-high five goals in the second half to pace Fisher.

The victor of Wednesday's game will move on to the Empire 8 Conference Final to face the winner of No. 3 Nazareth at No. 2 Ithaca.  The highest remaining seed will then host the Championship game.
