Women's Lax Loses In Oneonta

The St. John Fisher College women's lacrosse team dropped a 20-13 decision at SUNY Oneonta.  With the loss, Fisher falls to 2-3 on the year, while the Red Dragons improve to 5-0.
 
Fisher trailed 5-1 midway through the first half and was down 8-2 with just over five minutes left in the first half.   The Cardinals scored three of the next four goals before the Red Dragons scored with 1:31 left to take a 10-5 lead into the locker room.
                                                      
Fisher trailed 13-7 with 20:32 left, but scored three goals in a two-minute span to make it 13-10 with 16:09 left.  Oneonta, however, pulled away, going on a 5-1 run over the next  14 minutes to keep its perfect record intact.

Melissa Leonhard finished with four goals and four draw controls to lead Fisher.  Emily Bryerton scored a career-high three goals, while Taylor Hughes finished with four points on three goals and one assist. 

Erin Ward added a goal and an assist, while Kristen Zylka also scored.  Shannon McDermott won three draws.

Caroline Trpcevski stopped eight shots in the first half, while Molly Naylon made three saves in the second half.
 
Fisher will return to action at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Farleigh-Dickinson University at Florham.  Fisher defeated FDU-Florham in last year's ECAC Championship game.
