The St. John Fisher College men's and women's basketball teams return to Empire 8 Conference action tonight when they travel to East Avenue rival Nazareth College to take on the Golden Flyers.
The women's team is coming off of its first-ever victory in Hoboken, NJ after using a strong second half to defeat the Stevens Institute of Technology 60-56 this past Saturday. The Cardinals (7-10, 3-3) were once again led by senior
Meghan Soja who recorded her fourth double-double of the season when she had 16 points and 13 rebounds. Freshman
Portia Velasco also contributed 15 points and six assists for the Cardinals. Nazareth (9-7, 2-4) is currently in a three-game losing streak that includes a 47-43 road loss to Stevens last Friday. Tip off for tonight's contest is at 6 p.m.
On the men's side, the Cardinals (9-8, 2-4) will look to snap their current three-game losing streak tonight after most recently falling 73-53 last Saturday to the Stevens Institute of Technology. Fisher will look to continue their recent success against the Golden Flyers (11-6, 4-2) after winning four out of the last five contests between the two teams. Last season, the Cardinals defeated Nazareth twice after winning a January home contest 69-55 and then again in February 83-72 on the road to close out the regular season. Tip of for tonight's contest is set for 8 p.m.
