The St. John Fisher College softball team left Keuka College with a 3-3 tie on Monday afternoon. What was originally scheduled to be a doubleheader, Monday's first game was called in the top of the seventh inning due to rain.
With the tie, Fisher now stands at 25-11-1, while Keuka is 18-3-1.
Fisher took a 2-0 lead in the first inning after Jennifer Vanek singled, stole second and scored on a double by Kayla Goodberlet. Two batters later, Goodberlet scored on a single from Carissa Carlson.
Keuka, who finished the game with just four hits, scored the game's three runs, two of which were unearned.
The Cardinals, however, tied the game in the top of the sixth inning. Carlson walked to start the inning and scored on a triple from Sarah Fordyce.
Fisher had a very good chance of taking the lead in the seventh (bases-loaded and no outs), but the game was called due to inclement weather. Pitcher Sarah Stefanon allowed four hits and struck out five over six innings for Fisher.
Fisher is scheduled to play a doubleheader at St. Lawrence University on Tuesday.
