In a matchup between two of the top men's lacrosse teams in the Empire 8 Conference, Stevens Institute of Technology outscored St. John Fisher College 10-1 in the second half and
picked up an 18-6 win on Saturday. With the win, Stevens, ranked sixth nationally, imrproves to 11-0 overall and 3-0 in the Empire 8, while Fisher, ranked 16th nationally, falls to 9-2, 1-2.
With the game tied at 3-3, late in the first quarter, Stevens scored two goals in the final minute of the first to take the lead for good. Fisher scored with three seconds left in the half to make it 8-5, but never got any closer.
Connor Henderson led the Cardinals with three goals.
Ryan Schmidt added one goal and one assist, while
Andrew Knoblauch paced Fisher with six ground balls.
Goalie
Jamie Campagna made 21 saves in just over 50 minutes of action in his first career start.
Fisher returns to action on Wednesday at Rochester Institute of Technology.
