Men's Basketball Takes Care Of Elmira

The St. John Fisher College men's basketball team earned a 67-55 win at Elmira College on Friday night in an Empire 8 Conference matchup.

 

With the win, Fisher improves to 11-7 overall and 7-2 in the Empire 8.  Fisher, who is tied for first place in the Empire 8 standings, has won 10 of its last 12 games.

 

It was a back-and-forth game for most of the first half and Elmira led 22-21 with 5:45 left in the opening period. The Cardinals, however, took the lead for good thanks to 10-2 run to end the half and led 31-24 at intermission.

 

Fisher scored the first five points of the second half, pushing its lead to 12 at 36-24 and kept at least an eight-point edge for the remainder of the game.

 

Four players scored in double figures for Fisher.  Jordan Gettings led the Cardinals with 16 of his 23 points in the second half.  Jason Norsen totaled 14 points and eight rebounds. Brandon Witte shot 5-for-6 from the floor and finished with 13 points, while Brent Harder added 11.

 
Fisher will return to action at 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Alfred University.
