Fisher Softball Sweeps Oswego

Carissa Carlson led Fisher in its first win versus Oswego, going 3-for-3 from the plate.
The St. John Fisher College softball team swept the visiting Oswego State Lakers in a doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon. With the wins the Cardinals improved to 10-10 overall for the season.
 
 
The Cardinals scored three runs in the first inning on three hits including two back-to-back doubles from Megan Zoerb and Lauren O'Brien O'Brien's shot to right center scored two runs, Zoerb and Samantha Vara.
 
Sophomore Carissa Carlson singled to leadoff the third inning and eventually scored on a RBI by Jamie Harmon. In the bottom of the inning Fisher surrendered two runs to Oswego to make the score 4-2.
 
The Cardinals answered right back with an insurance run in the fourth to make the score 5-2 which it remained for the duration of the game.
 
Carlson led the team, going 3-for-3 with a run scored. On the mound, Danielle Leone pitched a complete game three-hitter, giving up just two runs while fanning four.
 

Game Two - - Fisher – 2, Oswego – 1

After squandering a few opportunities to score, Fisher saved its scoring for the bottom of the sixth, taking a 2-1 lead for good. An O'Brien triple scored sophomore Megan Rogers after she pinch ran for Zoerb. Zoerb reached base with a single to center to leadoff the inning.

Freshman pitcher Sarah Stefanon led the Cardinals, pitching a complete game, only giving up on run with a career-high 10 strikeouts.
 
In the first inning, Oswego went on the board first, scoring a run with two outs on a double from Siobhan Joyce to score Sue Schoff.
 
Fisher will return to action on Saturday at 1 p.m. when it travels to Hoboken, NJ to face Empire 8 foe Stevens Institute of Technology
