Another game, another heart-breaking loss for the St. John Fisher College women's lacrosse team.
On Sunday, the Cardinals (1-8) lost 12-10 to host Wesleyan University. It is Fisher's fifth loss of the season by two goals or less.
The Cardinals trailed 9-6 with just under 23 minutes left, but scored three straight goals - two from
Ashley Fenyn and one from
Lauren Glavin - tying the game at 9-9 with 15 minutes remaining. Wesleyan, however, ended the game with a 3-1 run, including back-to-back goals in a 13-second span to take the lead for good.
Senior
Vicki Sahm stopped 19 shots for Fisher.
Fenyn led the Cardinals with four goals, while Glavin and
Courtney Clare each finished with two goals and one assist.
Trish Scudder also scored twice, while
Jackie Maynard picked up an assist.
Fisher will return to action at 4 p.m. on Tuesday at SUNY Geneseo.
