The St. John Fisher College men's lacrosse team improved to 7-0 on the season
with a 19-8 win over host SUNY Oswego at Laker Field on Saturday afternoon.
The Lakers opened the first quarter with two quick goals in the first 30 seconds, but Fisher's nine-goal run into the second would give the Cardinals a 9-2 lead and seal the fate of the game. Oswego answered with a goal at 5:27 in the second quarter, but could not gain momentum against the fired-up Cardinals, who went on two separate runs of four goals each throughout the rest of the game.
Eight Fisher players had multiple-point appearances, including a team-best game from
Dave Malone, who recorded two goals and four assists for six points.
Scott Bowen had a career-best five points (2g, 3a), while
Mike Cummins scored a career-high four goals in the win.
Chris Schmidt had one goal and three assists for four points on the day.
Mitch Ritchie and
Ryan Schmidt each chipped in with three points, while
Kyle Denhoff and
Jeff Price each recorded two goals.
Fisher opens its Empire 8 season on the road at Hartwick next Saturday at 4 p.m.
