The St. John Fisher College men's lacrosse team jumped out a to 13-4 lead by intermission and never looked back, as the Cardinals, ranked 22nd nationally, improved to 6-0 on the year with a 17-8 win over visiting SUNY Oneonta on Saturday.
With the game tied at 1-1, Fisher scored four straight goals in a 2:16 span midway through the first quarter to take control. Oneonta pulled to within two goals at 5-3 with 3:39 left, but the Cardinals scored the final three goals of the first quarter and scored three goals in the final 2:05 of the first half to pull away.
Fisher's Kyle Denhoff scored four first-half goals and finished with five points, while senior Dave Malone tallied seven points on five assists and two goals.
Jeff Price picked up three points on two assists and one goal. Mitch Ritchie and Alex Bopp each finished with one goal and one assist, while Kory Smart and Eric Klein also scored in the win.
Fisher's
Erich Rassow scooped up 10 ground balls and went 15-for-26 on faceoffs.
Jon Cortina and Dan Serafine each played 30 minutes in goal and combined to make nine saves.
Fisher, who started last year 9-0, will return next Saturday at SUNY Oswego.
