Both the St. John Fisher College softball and women's lacrosse teams will play today with a chance to take a step forward in earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship by winning the Empire 8 Conference title.

Earlier today, the Cardinals strung together four straight hits in the sixth inning to break a 1-1 tie and defeated R.I.T. 4-1.  Fisher (29-9) will now play either RIT or Ithaca at 3 p.m.

At noon, the women's lacrosse team is in action and will face host Stevens Institute of Technology in the Empire 8 semifinals.  The Cardinals will look to pull the upset and knock off  the top-seededDucks.  If Fisher is successful, it will play the winner of RIT/Nazareth on Sunday at 12 p.m.
