Women's Lax Wins At Alfred

Jen Springett scored four goals in Fisher's win at Alfred.
The St. John Fisher College women's lacrosse team won its first Empire 8 Conference of the year, as the Cardinals came through with a 15-5 win at Alfred University on Saturday.

With the game tied at one after the first six minutes, Fisher went on a 6-0 run and scored 14 of the game's next 15 goals to pull away. The Cardinals led 9-2 at intermission with Meg Merriam scoring all three of her goals in the first half.
 
Mary Stimson led Fisher (3-4 overall, 1-1 Empire 8) with five points on three goals and two assists. Jen Springett scored four goals in the win, while Ashley Fenyn dished out four assists.
 
Courtney Clare scored two first-half goals, while Lauren Glavin added one goal and one assist. Steph Rowland and Trish Scudder also scored in the win, while Jackie Maynard picked up an assist.
 
Vicki Sahm stopped two shots over to earn the win in goal. She also led her team with seven ground balls.
 
Fisher will return to action on Sunday and will host R.I.T. at 1 p.m.
