The St. John Fisher College men's lacrosse team rallied from an early 2-1 deficit, scoring seven straight goals to close out the first half,
and defeated visiting Alfred University 16-7 on Saturday at Fisher's Growney Stadium in an Empire 8 Conference matchup.
With the win, Fisher, who set a College-record for victories in a season in Wednesday's 13-12 win over Nazareth College, improves to 13-2 overall and 5-2 in the Empire 8 Conference, while Alfred falls to 8-5, 1-5.
Today's win also marks the 400th career win for head coach John Johnson. Johnson, who coached for 26 years at Canandaigua Academy and compiled a 357-149 record, has a 43-22 mark in his four-year career at Fisher.
Alfred led 2-1 after Justin Gill scored with 4:08 left in the first quarter, but the Cardinals took control, scoring the next seven goals to take a 8-2 lead into the locker room.
The Saxons scored two of the second half's first three goals to pull within five at 9-4, but the Cardinals responded again, scoring five unanswered, and cruised to the win.

Dave Wood won 19-of-24 face offs and scooped up a team-high 14 ground balls.

Jon Cortina stopped 11 shots over 48 minutes of action to earn the win.
Bill Buttaro made three saves over the final 11:40.
Fisher will return to action on 1 p.m. next Saturday at Utica College in the final game of the 2009 regular season.
