After allowing a run in the top of the first, the Cardinals plated five runs in the bottom half of the inning, and added four more in their half of the second to take a commanding 9-1 lead. Fisher added insurance runs in the third and fourth innings to bring the mercy rule into play after five innings.
Meghan Graves (3-for-3) and
Jamie Harmon (3-for-4) each picked up three hits in the win, while sophomore
Melissa Blakeney earned a win from the circle and struck out four batters in just three innings of action.
Fisher will take on Wartburg College at 5:30 p.m. in the second game of the day for the Cardinals.
