The St. John Fisher College men's lacrosse team improved to 8-0 on Wednesday
with a 19-6 win over visiting Elmira College in the Empire 8 Conference season opener for both teams. Fisher, ranked 22nd nationally, is off to its best start in the program's eight-year history, while the eight wins is the program's longest winning streak.
With the game tied at 1-1 midway through the first half, Fisher scored the game's next six goals to take command and led 9-3 at intermission. The Cardinals also scored the first six goals of the second half to pull away.
Junior
Jeff Price led the Cardinals with a career-high six points on three goals and three assists. Classmate
Dave Malone also finished with six points on two goals and four assists.
Kyle Denhoff tallied three points in the game on two goals and one assist, while midfielder
Mike Cummins and
Ryan Schmidt each totaled two points, on two assists and one goal and one assist, respectively.
Fisher will return to action at 1 p.m. on Saturday and will host Hartwick College.
