The St. John Fisher College women's lacrosse team was defeated 9-7 by host No. 18 William Smith College. With the loss the Cardinals fall to 0-3 on the season, with all three losses coming to nationally ranked opponents.
Fisher jumped out to a 3-1 lead, but the undefeated Heron scored the game's next six goals to take command.
Courtney Clare, Meg Merriam and Lauren Glavin each scored two goals, while Ashley Fenyn (one goal and one assist) and Mary Stimson (two assists) also finished with two points.
Vicki Sahm stopped 14 shots in net.
Fisher will return to action on Thursday at College at Brockporty.
