With the win, Fisher improves to 16-9 overall and 9-7 in the Empire 8 Conference. The Cardinals will be the No. 4 seed in next week's Empire 8 Conference Championship and will play against the No. 1 seed (either Utica College or Ithaca College) at a time and site to be determined.
Elmira (9-15, 4-11) enjoyed its last lead of the game at 12-11 with 11:28 remaining in the first half. The Cardinals, however, took the lead good over the next five minutes going on a 12-0 run and led 32-23 at intermission. Fisher used a full-court press to take control and forced 16 of Elmira's 31 turnovers in the first half.
The Soaring Eagles pulled to within six points at 34-28 on a three-point-play just over one minute into the second half, but the Cardinals pulled away, going on a 16-4 run over the next eight minutes.
Colleen Maloney led the Cardinals with 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting, while adding four steals.
Christine Isselhard, playing in her final home game, finished with a career-high 10 points, while
Meagan Tubbs, also playing in her final home game, added four points, three assists and three steals. Freshman
Kristi Jeffres tallied eight points, six rebounds, four steals and two blocked shots.
