With the win, Fisher improves to 16-9 overall and 8-8 in the Empire 8. The Cardinals now need Elmira to beat Nazareth College on Tuesday to earn the No. 4 seed in next weekend's Empire 8 Conference Championship.
The Cardinals, who led by as many as 10 in the first half, went to the locker room with a 33-28 advantage, but the Soaring Eagles opened the second half with a 6-0 run to take their first lead of the game since the opening moments.
Fisher regained its lead and led 49-40 after back-to-back 3-pointers from
Ozell Franklin and
Connor Henderson, but Elmira responded quickly with a 9-0 run, tying the game at 49 with 11 minutes left.
The Cardinals, however, went on an 8-0 run over the next three minutes to take control and never looked back.
Fisher finished the game with 13 3-pointers for the second time this season, including eight in the second half.
Franklin led the Cardinals with a career-high 26 points. The sophomore guard shot 9-for-18 from the floor, including 7-of-13 from 3-point range (career-high for 3-pointers). Henderson finished with 14 points, while fellow freshman
Jordan Gettings added 10 points.
Freshman
Trevor Stearns grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds, including seven offensive boards, while
Matt Newman dished out a career-high nine assists.
