Witte Lifts Men's Basketball To Win Over Hobart

The St. John Fisher College men's basketball team came through with a 56-54 win on Tuesday over host Hobart College.

Brandon Witte came off the bench and scored all 13 of his points (career-high) in the second half, but his final bucket was clearly the biggest of his career. The sophomore caught the ball on the right side of court, just inside the 3-point lane, and drove threw the lane and hit a floater from six feet away with 1.6 seconds left. Hobart inbounded the ball and attempted a 3-pointer from just beyond half-court, but the shot banked off the rim.

Will Cornett finished with a career-high 14 rebounds, including 10 in the first half. He also scored eight points.

Michael Wopperer totaled a career-high 11 points in the win.

The game featured 10 lead-changes and was tied up on 11 different occasions. The 56 points scored by Fisher are the fewest in a victory since December of 2002.

Fisher trailed by as many as six points in the first half, but went on a 6-0 run over the final 3:52 of the first half and tied the game at 26-26, despite shooting just 26.5% from the floor.

Fisher will return to action on Monday, December 29th, as the Cardinals host St. Mary's College of Maryland at 8 p.m.
