Volleyball Earns Postseason Bid

For the 32nd time in the program's 33-year history, St. John Fisher College is going to the postseason in volleyball.  Fisher won 3-0 in its two matches on Sunday over Elmira College and Utica College and earned the No. 4 seed in the Empire 8 Conference Championship.

Fisher lost to Ithaca College in its first match on Saturday, but the Cardinals rattled off three straight wins – defeating Hartwick College on Saturday and Elmira and Utica Colleges on Sunday – to finish the year with a 4-3 record in conference play and earned the No. 4 seed in the Empire 8 Conference Championship.
Sophomore Alyssa Ziobrowski (Lewiston-Porter/Lewiston) finished the weekend with a team-high 45 kills and a .327 hitting percentage.  She also added 14 digs, seven blocks and four service aces.
Senior Kristi Pallotta (Liverpool/Liverpool) recorded a team-high 46 digs and eight service aces, while adding 37 kills.  Classmate Colleen Helak (St. Mary’s/West Seneca) finished with 39 digs and four service aces.
Junior setter Hannah Cordes (Cazenovia/Cazenovia) led the Cardinals with 134 assists, while adding 40 digs, 17 kills and four blocks.
Senior Tricia Hammerl (Byron-Bergen/Bergen) posted 25 kills, 11 blocks and eight digs, while sophomore Jenna Engel (Batavia/Batavia) recorded 28 digs, 24 kills and a team-high 12 blocks.
Sophomore Morgen Kandefer (Nardin Academy/Alden) tallied 12 kills, six blocks and five digs.  Freshman Marisa Kamholtz (Canandaigua Academy/Canandaigua) finished with 29 digs and three kills, while teammates Jenna Waldron (Windsor/Windsor) and Mary Beth Dillon (Churchville-Chili/Churchville) finished with 20 and 19 digs, respectively.
The Cardinals (10-17) will return to action on Wednesday at SUNY Fredonia.
