St. John Fisher University Athletics

Pat Galer (Whitesboro/Whitesboro) of the St. John Fisher College football team has been named the College's Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 27, 2019. The wide receiver had career day in the Cardinals' 42-37 loss against No. 19 Cortland on Saturday.

Galer caught a career-high eight receptions for a career-high 131 yards as Fisher fought to the very end against the Nationally-Ranked and undefeated Red Dragons at Growney Stadium. In the second quarter, the junior caught a 46-yard pass on a flea flicker from quarterback Hunter Walsh that put the ball at Cortland one-yard line. On the following play, the Cardinals found the end zone to take a 23-21 lead.

The Whitesboro native also reeled in a 30-yard catch that led to another Fisher touchdown in the fourth quarter. Galer led the Cardinals in receiving yards as they passed for 397 yards on the day. Fisher has a bye this week, it will be back in action at Morrisville for a 1 p.m. kickoff on Saturday, November 9th.
