Lindsey Thayer of the softball team has been named the St. John Fisher College Athlete of the Week for the week ending May 7th, 2017

Thayer continued her impressive 2017 campaign as she helped the Cardinals take home their first conference title since 2013. The junior allowed only three earned runs over 28.0 innings of work, putting her ERA at just .75. Turning in a 3-1 record on the weekend, Thayer punched out 58 batters while limiting her opponents combined batting average to just .152. After defeating Ithaca for the crown on Sunday, the Winthrop native was also named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

The softball team will host the Regional Round for the second straight year, starting off with a bout against Penn St.-Behrend at 3 p.m. on Friday. Joining the Cardinals in the pod will be William Paterson University and Manhattanville College who square off at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
