St. John Fisher College’s Emily Markarian of the field hockey team has been selected as the College’s Female Athlete of Week for the week ending November 8th, 2015.

Fisher closed out its 2015 season in the Empire 8 Conference Championship Tournament when it fell to the Stevens Institute of Technology in a 2-1 overtime loss in the semifinal round held on Friday at Ithaca College.

Markarian netted Fisher’s only goal of the game in the 23rd minute. Stevens answered in the 42nd, ultimately sending the game into overtime, resulting in a Ducks victory after a goal in the 75th minute.

The Orchard Park native finished her sophomore season first on the team in goals with 15, landing fourth overall in the Empire 8. She also led the team in points with 36, good for second overall in the conference.

The Cardinals completed their 2015 season 12-7 overall, and 6-2 in the conference, marking the most successful season in program history.
