St. John Fisher College’s Corey Haas of the men’s golf team has been selected as the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending September 13th, 2015.
Haas, also named the Empire 8 Men’s Golf Player of the Week, led Fisher to a first-place finish in the Flower City Preview which took place at Midvale Country Club this weekend. The senior was the medalist of the tournament shooting a score of 145 over the two-day tournament.
Despite heavy rain in the first round, Haas carded an even 72, tallying four birdies, and ended the opening day in second place overall.
In the second round he ended the front-nine at +1, but earned a birdie to open the last nine holes and remained even through the next seven holes. With Haas, Fisher took first place overall with a total team score of 604.
The Cardinals have their next contest in Syracuse when they participate in the Empire 8 Golf Championship at Timber Banks Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday.
