James Chambers (Lockport/Lockport) of the St. John Fisher College football team was named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for action taking place during the week that concluded on September 24, 2017.
Chambers posted a career-high in rushing yards over the weekend as the Cardinals played on the road for the third time in four weeks after visiting Empire 8 rival Hartwick College.
The senior back posted 173 yards on 18 carries on Saturday and scored two of Fisher’s three touchdowns. Chambers, who proved difficult to tackle all game, posted an impressive 9.6 yards per carry and reeled off a 64-yard rushing touchdown to tie the game at 14-14.
For the season, Chambers has now posted 321 yards on the ground to go along with two touchdowns and has amassed 188 receiving yards along with two more scores.
Chambers and the football team is off this weekend, but will return to action at 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 7th when they host Alfred University. The contest also corresponds with Alumni Weekend.
