Claire Bollin of the women's lacrosse team has been named the St. John Fisher College Athlete of the Week for the week ending May 7th, 2017.
Despite entering the championship as the four seed, Fisher had no trouble securing its sixth-straight Empire 8 crown over the weekend. Aiding in the tournament effort was junior-transfer Claire Bollin. The midfielder posted a team-high four goals in Saturday’s victory over the top-seeded Bombers of Ithaca, before matching that with a four-goal performance in Sunday’s final win. Bollin really put in work on the draw though, controlling the restart 15 times between the two games (more than all other Cardinals combined). To round out the scoresheet, Bollin also registered two assists and three groundballs. At the conclusion of the tournament, the Pittsford native received Most Valuable Player honors as well.
Women’s lacrosse finds itself in York, Pennsylvania for a first Division III NCAA Championship round match up against the Mustangs of Morrisville State. The tilt will begin at 12 p.m. on Saturday.
