St. John Fisher College’s Elizabeth Cusack (Shenendehowa/Clifton Park) of the field hockey team has been named as the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 19, 2014.
The junior recorded her 13th goal of the season to propel Fisher to a 4-1 victory over visiting Elmira College on Saturday as the Cardinals honored their graduating student-athletes for Senior Day.
With the win, Fisher remains perfect in conference play, just one of the two teams to do so. The Cardinals improve to 6-0 in Empire 8 and 10-4 overall to tie the program record in wins.
Cusack opened the scoring in the 16th minute when she followed up her own rebound to give Fisher a 1-0 lead. Emily Markarian, Stacie Skidmore and Liz Baldwin added a goal of their own to round out the Cardinals’ scoring.
Cusack, along with Markarian, leads the Cardinals on offense with 13 goals. Cusack’s 13 goals this season are also a career-high.
Fisher takes on visiting William Smith College at 4 p.m. Tuesday for non-conference action.
