St. John Fisher University Athletics

Mike Lynch (Geneseo/Geneseo) of the men’s soccer team has been selected as the St. John Fisher College Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 12, 2014.

The midfielder tallied his first collegiate goal on Saturday in the Cardinals’ 4-2 victory over East Avenue rival Nazareth College. Off of a corner kick, Lynch bent the ball past Nazareth’s goalkeeper Nate Ripic to give Fisher a 1-0 lead in the 19th minute.

Zach Hammond and Eric Luisi also recorded their first career goals for Fisher in the win. Nazareth scored an own goal.

Fisher has now won back-to-back games for the first time this season and improves to 4-8-1 overall and 2-2 in Empire 8, while Nazareth falls to 3-9 and 1-3, respectively.

Fisher returns to action at 11 a.m. Saturday against visiting Ithaca College for an Empire 8 contest.
