Jessica D’Angelo (Falconer/Jamestown) of the St. John Fisher College softball team has been named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 20, 2014.
D’Angelo led Fisher to a 3-3 week in doubleheaders against The College at Brockport, Houghton College, and Ithaca College.
The lone senior finished the week with a .500 batting average and a .550 on-base percentage, contributing nine hits, including two doubles. She also hit a two-run homer in the first game of the doubleheader against Brockport, giving Fisher a two-run lead in the fourth inning before Brockport overtook the game to capture a 10-5 win.
She also combined for two hits, two runs, and an RBI in Fisher’s two wins over Houghton on Thursday.
In total, she generated five RBIs on the week, also recording seven runs and posting an impressive .778 slugging percentage.
D’Angelo also stole a base on each of her two attempts and recorded 21 putouts behind the plate.
The Cardinals (18-8, 4-4 E8) will return to the diamond to close out the regular season this week with four doubleheader matchups. Fisher will travel to Rochester on Tuesday (3 p.m.) and to Elmira on Wednesday (3 p.m.) before returning home to face D’Youville on Saturday (3 p.m.) and Utica on Sunday (1 p.m.).
