Samantha Barton (Greece Arcadia/Rochester) of the nationally-ranked St. John Fisher College women's lacrosse team has been named the College's Female Athlete of the Week after lifting the Cardinals to a 2-1 record last week including two conference wins against Alfred and Nazareth, respectively.

Barton combined to tally nine points on six goals and three assists last week as the No. 14 Cardinals closed out the week in a big way, outscoring their competition 34-6 over the weekend.

The Rochester native tallied two assists against Fredonia before scoring a game-high four goals in a 13-4 win against Nazareth and a pair of goals and an assist in Fisher's 21-2 win over Alfred.

Barton did her best to fill the box score as the junior midfielder combined to record five ground balls, 12 draw controls and five caused turnovers last week.

Barton currently ranks second on the team with 19 goals and is third in total points with 22.

The Cardinals will look to make it three wins in a row when they return to the field for the first of four-straight road games beginning at 3 p.m. on Thursday against Geneseo.
