St. John Fisher College’s Paige Willson (East Concord/Griffith Institute) of the women’s track and field team has been named as the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending February 2, 2014.
At the 2014 Empire 8 Conference Championship at Ithaca on Saturday, Willson won the shot put event, setting a new Fisher record with a distance of 12.27 meters, breaking her own previous record of 11.71 meters set exactly one year earlier on February 1, 2013.
Her performance also qualified her for the ECAC Championships taking place over March 7-8 in Boston, Mass.
Fisher will return to action this weekend at the Valentine Invite in Boston, Mass.
