Optimystic Kinard (South Ozone Park/Christ The King) of the St. John Fisher College men’s basketball team has been selected as the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending January 19, 2014.

Kinard had a stellar weekend as the Cardinals defeated Ithaca College 79-56 on Friday and came back on Saturday to drop Utica College 83-65 at Manning and Napier Gymnasium.

The junior forward poured in a season-high 21 points, including four 3-pointers in Fisher’s Play 4 Kay breast cancer awareness game against Ithaca College on Friday night.

Fisher carried its momentum into Saturday’s contest as five players scored in double figures.  Kinard finished with 14 points, nine rebounds, and four steals in the win.

With the victories, the Cardinals improve to 10-5 overall and 4-1 in the Empire 8.

Fisher will be back in action on 6 p.m. on Friday hosting Elmira College.
