St. John Fisher College’s Danielle Famolaro (Rome/Rome-Free-Academy) of the field hockey team has been named as the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending November 10, 2013.

Famolaro had an MVP performance in a 3-1 win in the semifinals of the Empire 8 Championship as Fisher knocked off top-seeded Stevens Institute to advance to the championship game.  Although being outshot 40-14 in the contest, the Fisher goaltender set a school-record with 18 saves in net to help the third year program earn its first postseason win.

Fisher was unable to knock off the second-seeded Utica College Pioneers on Sunday, falling 5-2 in the championship game.

Famolaro made seven saves in net for Fisher in the loss.

The Cardinals close out their most successful season in school history, picking up the programs first ever double digit win season, finishing with a 10-10 overall record and 5-4 mark in the Empire 8.
