Ryan Sweet (East Aurora/East Aurora) of the St. John Fisher College football team has been selected as the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending November 10, 2013.

Sweet had his best performance in the Cardinals uniform setting career-highs with five catches for 144 receiving yards and two touchdowns in Fisher’s 24-6 victory over Buffalo State on Saturday.

The junior hauled in a 44-yard touchdown pass from Matt Naton early in the second quarter to put Fisher up 7-0 on the host Bengals.

Late in the second quarter Sweet sprinted past the secondary to bring in a career-high 78-yard touchdown pass and give the Cardinals a 14-0 lead.

With the win Fisher improves to 7-2 overall and 4-2 in the Empire 8 Conference.

The Cardinals close out the regular season at 1 p.m. Saturday as they host Alfred University in the ninth annual Courage Bowl at Growney Stadium.
