St. John Fisher University Athletics

Rachael Kline (Oneida/Oneida) of the St. John Fisher College volleyball team has been named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending September 8, 2013. 

The senior middleblocker led the team in kills and blocks for the weekend, with 39 and 10 respectively, in four matches played at the University of Rochester Invitational.  Fisher finished the weekend 1-3, defeating Hamilton in five to open the weekend, before falling to SUNY New Paltz, Oswego and Skidmore College. 
 
Kline’s strong offensive play helped propel the Cardinals to their opening match win over Hamilton.  Trailing 2-1 after three sets, the Cardinals stormed back for the win, Kline leading the way with a game-high 17 kills. 
For the season, Kline leads the team with 71 kills and 17 blocks.

The Cardinals will open up Empire 8 Conference play at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Alfred University.
