St. John Fisher College’s Nicoletta Lattuca (Spencerport/Rochester), a sophomore on the women’s track and field team, has been named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending February 17, 2013.
At the RIT Orange and Brown Invitational held at Gordon Field House, Lattuca qualified for ECACs in the long jump for the second straight year. She set a new Fisher record by leaping 5.22 meters. The jump placed her second overall in the event, just .01 meters from taking the top spot.
The Rochester native also placed fifth in the 60-meter dash, finishing in 8.30 seconds in a very close competition. She placed seventh in the preliminary 60-meter dash that featured nearly 40 opponents, finishing in 8.31 seconds, qualifying for the finals.
Lattuca and the track and field teams will return to action this Friday and Saturday as they travel to Ithaca for the NYSCTC Indoor Championships.
