St. John Fisher College’s Mary Kate Cusack (Shenendehowa/Clifton Park) of the women’s basketball team has been named as the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending February 10, 2013.
On Tuesday, in the Cardinals’ lone game of the week, Cusack put up career numbers to lead her team to an 80-70 victory over Houghton College. The freshman netted 25 points in the victory after shooting 8-for-15 from the field. The guard also set a career high for 3-pointers made in a contest, draining six shots from beyond the arc, including 4-of-5 attempts in the final half.
Cusack kept her scoring balanced, as she ended the first half with 12 points on 4-for-8 shooting. She then scored 13 in the second half with even more efficient shooting, going 4-for-7 from the floor.
The guard also dished out two assists, grabbed four rebounds and had two takeaways in the game.
The Cardinals will return to action at 6 p.m. on Tuesday night when they travel to face East Avenue rival Nazareth College for the second time this season. Fisher defeated the Golden Flyers 62-50 in the first meeting of the year.
