St. John Fisher College’s Peter Krysztof (Cansius/Williamsville), a senior on the baseball team, has been named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 4, 2012.

In 2-1 week for the Cardinals, Krysztof led the team in several categories and was a catalyst when he moved from the ninth slot in the order to the lead off position.

Fisher's first game was against Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Winter Haven, FL at the Chain of Lakes Park for the RussMatt Central Florida Inviational. Despite a 5-3 loss, Krysztof went 2-for-4 from the plate with a double, a stolen base, a RBI and a run scored.

Up next for the Cardinals was Penn State Altoona and Krysztof, this time from the first slot in the batting order, went 2-for-2 in the 21-4 victory. He again had a RBI along with two runs scored, three walks and two stolen bases.

Fisher then faced Gwynedd-Mercy College on Sunday night in the Chain of Lakes Park Stadium. The team used a eight run fourth inning to get a 10-5 win and although Krysztof did not have a hit he proved to be effective yet again. The senior walked once, stole a base, was hit by a pitch and scored twice.

Also in Fisher's three games in Florida thus far, Krysztof, the starting third baseman, has had no errors, seven assists and two put-outs.

On the year, Krysztof leads the team in batting average (.455), on-base percentage (.647) and walks (5). He is also tied for the lead in stolen bases with Ben Bostick at six. Krysztof is perfect on attempting to steal a base this season.

The Cardinals will return to action at 12:30 p.m. on Monday for its only doubelheader in Florida against Mount Aloysius.
