St. John Fisher College’s Amy Street (Liverpool/Liverpool), of the volleyball team, has been named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending November 6, 2011.
Despite a Fisher five-set defeat in the semifinal of the Empire 8 Championships to number one seed Elmira College, Street racked up the assists, adding to an already outstanding season.
The senior provided 35 assists to lead the team during its 3-2 (25-18, 24-26, 25-13, 20-25, 15-12) loss, making it 1,129 for the season; good for first in the Empire 8 Conference. The total is also third all-time in Fisher single-season history.
The senior now has 2,703 career assists, good for fourth all-time at Fisher. In addition, her 895 digs rank ninth in Cardinal history.
With the tournament loss, Fisher will now have to wait to hear if it earns a bid to the ECAC Championship, pending the results of conference tournaments. Selections will be announced at a later date.
