PITTSFORD, N.Y., September 12, 2011 — St. John Fisher College’s Dave Vosburgh (East Rochester/Pittsford) of the football team has been named as the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending September 11, 2011.  Fisher defeated Buffalo State 12-7 on Saturday to gain its first win of the 2011 season.

In Fisher’s season opener, Vosburgh made ten tackles, seven of them solo, against the Buffalo State offense.  The Senior safety led a Fisher defense that only allowed 260 yards to the Bengals, including 51 yards in the final 10 minutes and a total of just 99 yards in the second half.

For his career, Vosburgh has totaled 195 tackles and is just 23 away from joining the Fisher All-Time Career Leaders.  Vosburgh has made four interceptions during his career with Fisher and has recorded 3.5 sacks.

Fisher will return to action at 7 p.m. on Saturday against the University of Rochester for Courage Bowl VII at Sahlen’s Stadium in Rochester.
