Michael D. Maloney is a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who specializes in Sports Medicine. He most commonly treats injuries and conditions to the shoulder, elbow and knee. 

Maloney currently serves as a Dean’s Professor of Orthopedics and the Chief of Sports Medicine at University of Rochester Medical Center. U of R Sports Medicine provides medical care for nine local colleges, five professional teams and many high school athletic programs in the Rochester region. 

Maloney is also the Medical Director of the URMC Ambulatory Surgery Center and the founder/director of the Center for Human Athleticism Musculoskeletal Performance and Prevention (CHAMPP), a multi-disciplinary and integrated approach to athletic performance, injury prevention and wellness, emphasizing care of the entire patient. The program treats patients/athletes of all skill levels, including Olympic athletes and those in Major League Baseball, the National Basketball Association, the National Football League, the National Hockey League and the PGA/LPGA.
