Garrison Knapp joined the St. John Fisher men’s basketball staff as an assistant coach before the 2024 season.
Knapp has compiled coaching and administrative experience at various levels of the sport, including as the head coach at the TASIS School, an international college preparatory institution in Puerto Rico. Knapp helped build the program into a yearly PRHSAA championship contender and coached several student-athletes who went on to play at the NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA levels. He went 262-104 from 2009-2022.
Knapp also served as the PRHSAA Commissioner of Basketball from 2018-2022, overseeing all basketball operations for the 30-member league. He was instrumental in the creation of the Puerto Rico All-Stars, an AAU team that gave PRHSAA players a chance to showcase themselves in front of college coaches.
Knapp also has extensive experience at the AAU level, as he coached the Puerto Rico Playmakers from 2009-2018 and Hoop and Motivate from 2022-24. Several of his players earned collegiate playing opportunities, and four of them are currently playing professionally.
Knapp, from Syracuse, New York, graduated from Hartwick College with a degree in sociology and education. He and his wife, Kimberley, have two children, Tyler and Amaya.
