St. John Fisher University Athletics

Al Mack

Al Mack joined the Fisher coaching staff as an assistant coach in 2007, and he will continue his work on the sidelines this winter.

Mack, an accomplished basketball player himself, began his career at Rush-Henrietta, where he led his team to a perfect 18-0 record during his senior campaign. He was named as the Royal Comets’ Most Valuable Player before moving on to Hilbert College in Buffalo.

A dominant player at Hilbert, he led his team in scoring and was named an All-American following the 1980-1981 season. After graduating from Hilbert, Mack headed south and played Division I basketball for the Pirates of East Carolina University.

Mack began his coaching career at his alma mater as an assistant, guiding the Royal Comets to success from 2000-2005, including a 15-4 mark during his final season with the team.

In addition to his coaching duties at Fisher, Mack works as a telecommunications specialist with Frontier.

Al and his wife Martha live in Henrietta, and have two children, David and Sarah.
