Geoff Grambo joined St. John Fisher’s cross country and track and field programs as an assistant coach in 2011. He was promoted in 2018 to associate head coach and in 2023 to program director. Grambo also serves as head coach of the Cardinals’ men’s track and field teams and specializes in coaching the throwers on the men’s and women’s teams.

During Grambo’s time at St. John Fisher, the Cardinals have won three Empire 8 Conference team titles in women’s cross country, three in women’s indoor track and field, two in women’s outdoor track and field, five in men’s indoor track and field and three in men’s outdoor track and field. The Cardinals have recorded multiple top-five team finishes in each conference championship since Grambo became program director in 2023.

In addition to dozens of regional and Empire 8 champions in indoor/outdoor track & field, the Cardinals have had 32 total NCAA All-Americans since the inception of the programs. That collection includes three men’s track and field athletes who won national titles, headlined by four-time high jump champion Kyle Rollins (3x outdoor, 1x indoor). Mark VanMarter won the long jump in the 2018 indoor national meet, and Peter Girardi claimed the 400-meter hurdles title in the 2018 outdoor national meet.

The Cardinals have also had a pair of athletes qualify for the national championships with Grambo on staff. Cohen Miles-Rath qualified for the NCAA Division III Men’s Championship in 2011, while Riley Corey became the first national qualifier for the women’s program in 2021. Fisher has had four Empire 8 men’s cross country champions, including two-time winner Grant Stokoe, and two Empire 8 women’s cross country champions, both won by Corey, since 2011.

As the throws coach, Grambo has developed a pair of All-Americans over the last three years. Makenna King became the women’s program’s first All-American in 2024 with a 14th-place finish in the shot put at outdoor nationals, and Brandon Kaplan achieved All-America status three times, twice in the hammer throw at outdoor nationals and once in the weight throw at indoor nationals. He became the first thrower from the Cardinals’ men’s program to earn All-America honors during the 2025 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

King and Kaplan both graduated with their names all over St. John Fisher’s record books. King set St. John Fisher’s records in the shot put (13.73 meters) and discus (49.26 meters), and Kaplan recorded the Cardinals’ top marks in the weight throw (19.16 meters) and hammer throw (60.87 meters). His hammer throw mark, recorded during the Empire 8 Outdoor Championships in 2025, also stands as the conference record.

Prior to his time at Fisher, Grambo broke into the coaching field as a graduate assistant throws coach at William Woods University (MO) from 2008-10 while earning his MBA.

A native of Lyons, Grambo graduated from St. Lawrence University in 2008 with a degree in history and a minor in exercise science. He led the Saints’ track and field team in shot put as a four-time Liberty League champion, two-time New York State champion, one-time ECAC champion and an NCAA All-American as a senior. Grambo still holds St. Lawrence’s shot put record.
