Bud Sims joined the Cardinals in 1995. Sims works with Fisher’s tackles and tight ends. He was instrumental in the development of Fisher graduate Mike Kallfelz, who played tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2006, and 2007 graduate Brennan Fortune who was a consensus All-American.  Sims guided 2011 graduate Corey Balcerzak, a two-time All-American selection. Under Sims, Brennan Fortune, 08', earned All-American status in 2007 along with being named to D3football.coms All-Decade Team. He also coached tackle James Thomas, who was selected as a First Team All-American by d3football.com in 2013.

Sims, who was Fisher’s defensive coordinator for five years, played at Michigan State for Duffy Daugherty, graduated from Bethany College in Kansas in 1962 and became a household name among the high school and collegiate ranks in Western New York.

Sims coached with current NY Giants head coach Tom Coughlin at R.I.T. and then accepted the head coach position at SUNY Brockport. Sims led the Golden Eagles to four consecutive winning seasons and left as the program’s most winningest coach.

A Pennsylvania native, Sims and his wife, Patsy, have five children - Susan, Lori, Marcie, Jill, and Charlie; seven grandchildren - Brian, Melissa, Kylee, Brandon, Emma Lou, Raychal, and Aidan; and one great grandchild, Logan.
