Brandon Potter has been Fisher's head baseball coach since 2010 and in that span has amassed a 368-161 overall record - the most wins in program history.
Since taking over the reins, Potter has lifted the Cardinals to new heights with five Empire 8 Championships in all, including back-to-back-to-back titles in 2021, 2022 and 2023.Â
Over the last 13 seasons, Potter, who has been named the Empire 8 Coach of the Year four times, has mentored hundreds of All-Conference selections, had seven athletes named the Empire 8 Player Year while six more were named the conference’s Pitcher of the Year. Additionally, Potter has coached 10 players to 31 All-American selections and has helped to develop three players that were drafted by Major League Baseball including Adam Zebrowski who was the unanimous Division III Player of the Year in 2021.
Under Potter’s direction, Fisher has eclipsed the 30-win plateau seven times including a program record 39 victories in 2016. That season, Fisher won the Mid-Atlantic Regional and advanced to the NCAA Division III World Series for the first time in team history.
In all, Potter has led the Cardinals to the NCAA Championship six times including an appearance in each of the last two seasons (2021-22) as the team routinely leads the Empire 8 and ranks among the nation’s best programs in nearly every statistical category. Â
Most recently, Fisher, which is consistently ranked within the top 25 year-in and year-out, put together another solid campaign in 2022 after winning the Empire 8 Regular Season Championship by six games en route to a sweep of Utica University in the championship series and an NCAA berth. Fisher finished the year with eight players having been named All-Region by the American Baseball Coaches Association and D3baseball.com while Noah Campanelli was voted an All-American after being named the Empire 8 Player of the Year earlier in the season. Â
In 2021, Fisher won its third Empire 8 Championship and advanced to the NCAA Championship for the sixth time in team history with a 31-7 overall mark. One of the most dominant offenses in the country in 2021, Fisher led all of Division III in numerous offensive categories with junior Adam Zebrowski being named the consensus Division III Player of the Year after narrowly missing the Triple Crown. In all, Potter coached two All-Americans, a program-best 10 All-Region selections and one of the top pitching staffs in the New York Region.
Potter played four years of baseball while attending Fisher. As a catcher he was named to the Empire 8 second team in his senior year (2004) after making honorable mention in his junior season (2003).
After graduating from Fisher, he spent a year with the Cardinal baseball coaching staff as an assistant. He helped guide Fisher to a successful 2006 season, finishing 26-15.
Potter went on to serve as an assistant coach for Minnesota State University, Mankato (NSIC – DII) where he aided in setting a school record for wins (45), and Cerro Coso Community College (Foothills Conference) in Ridgecrest, California. Between those two positions he coached five players taken in the MLB Draft. He also served first as the pitching coach and then as the Head Coach for the New York Collegiate Baseball League’s (NYCBL) Watertown Wizards.
Potter is a member of the ABCA. He currently resides in Victor.
